2008th world hovercraft championship happened in Sweden from Aug.20th - 24th 2008.

Almost 100 world best hovercrafts and world best hovercraft pilots gathered at lake near Flottsbro, near Stockholm to race for title WORLD CHAMPION in hovercraft racing, in different classes of hovercrafts - F1, F2, F3, F 50, Fs, Fj,.... This great event happen each 2 years, and only best of the best dare to come and show their hovercraft performance and pilot skills...

Intro into WHC 2008 - ultimate airboat race

BUFO hovercraft participate at WHC 2008 challenge, as serial hovercraft WITHOUT any modifications for racing. The issue was to present BUFO hovercraft as HIGH performance RECREATIONAL hovercraft, to prove the performance on top speeds that can be easily over 100 km/h, safe operation at high speeds, to prove the reliability on extreme conditions like 4 day racing at maximum limit of hovercraft and engine and racing on land and water with best racing hovercrafts and pilots from all over the world.

What makes BUFO different from racing hovercrafts

Bufo has only 90 cm duct, racers have 100 cm and more, but BUFO duct has excellent efficiency - best you can find on market.
BUFO has 86 KG of static thrust (what is 30 % more as other recreational hovercrafts on market) racers have up to 120 kg.
BUFO has 40 % of airflow from duct directed into air canal, so it can carry 2 persons anywhere, also can hover on rough grass and rocks, racers have only 10 - 15 % reduced thrust by redirected air - they are made only for racing and payload of one person.

WHC race report:

There were 21 hovercrafts F50 racing on World hovercraft championship 2008, including BUFO hovercraft. BUFO hovercraft was piloted by experienced Italian hovercraft racer Renato Presotto, that races also in class F2. BUFO hold the number 81. First day of racing passed by in TIME TRIALS chase, where hovercrafts were racing for best lap time. BUFO airboat was 10th fastest hovercraft of 21 racing hovercrafts.

Than 3 days of racing followed and hovercrafts were separated in 2 groups A and B. Each racing day there were 2 races for each group. After first 2 days of racing BUFO hold 6th position of 21 F50 hovercrafts, than BUFO pilot Renato had an accident with hiss F2 class hovercraft, and Renato was taken to hospital. BUFO manage to finals, but Renato was not able to ride because injured arm - so BUFO fallen to 12th place at the end, what is also official result of WHC 2008 Formula 50 racing. WHC 2008 is live prove that BUFO hovercraft is able to compete on world championships as MORE than average racing hovercraft! May 2008 - The issue of BUFO Hovercraft participation at WHC 2008.

Our main issue is participation of BUFOcraft as recreational hovercraft among all racing hovercrafts on WHC, as part of BUFO prototype testing. BUFO prototype is being in action for almost 2 years now, and so far it proved to be excellent recreational amphibian airboat. Why not put it to a real race test? Hell Yes, we got to WHC!
Beside BUFOcraft, we would like to introduce also our new Hovercraft Club Slovenia (homepage at www.hovercraft-club.si ) that works under MAD hovercraft sponsorship, and get contacts from other clubs around EU and other countries as well. So far we are connected and in good relations with Italian Hovercraft Team Friuli, we already organized few smaller hovercraft events in Slovenia. Since Slovenia is at very good location (near Italy, Austria and Croatia), and very good place for hovercrafting (smaller lakes, rivers, rapids, some swamps, lot of grass fields), we hope to organize some bigger hovercraft event in near future for all hovermaniax in our country, but first step is to meet some people, Sweden is the right place this year. We all looking forward to.
